Our world and Anime

Art Via Crunch Roll

The rise of social media, streaming services, and more easily accessible content is the main reason we are seeing an increase in people watching and following anime. It wasn't that long ago that it was difficult to even watch shows that others had shared or raved about. There was not a huge acceptance of other types of media unless it was homegrown, and people often turned to shows made by big studios that threw in the same kind of whitewashed way of life that they wanted to target for their own benefit.

Anime always had a secure fan base, but they were always seen as the geeks who watched weird adult cartoons, but now networks are following the trail of money and realizing that Anime has become more widely accepted and networks like Crunchyroll hold the crown for the place to be.

The first anime I watched was  Attack on Titan, which was introduced to me by my best friend. I was really blown away by this show, and I even watched it in Japanese with English subtitles. Little did I know about anime or manga, which has also become more popular in recent times, and most of the stories are based on manga.

There are so many that it can become hard to choose, but when you watch some anime, it can put Hollywood to shame. With movies like Your Name, Grave of the Fireflies, and Suzume, you'll be left wondering what you've been watching. Then we have shows like Violet Evergarden, Erased, Vinland Saga, Dororo, and one of the most loved, Attack on Titan, there is no going back. Here are some of my favorites:

If you haven't yet dipped your toes into the anime world and are looking for compelling stories, then your next new awakening is to check out your network of choice, talk to friends, read reviews, and search for your preferred genre. I myself prefer Crunchyroll, as it basically has everything in the anime world.
